Ephesians 5:11 “Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them…”
On Wednesday, we witnessed President Obama surround himself with children as he addressed the nation on the issue of gun violence. There are many words that might be used to describe the President’s use of these children including: opportunistic, political and exploitive. But, these words will not suffice. More accurate words would be: sinful, deceitful and wicked.
Let’s begin here…do the children that the President hid behind to shield himself from the scrutiny his actions deserve, understand with adult comprehension the matters that they wrote to the President about and that the President used to advance his Constitution trampling agenda? Certainly these children think it is terrible that other children were shot and killed as do we all. These children want shootings like this to stop and of course, children and adults alike concur.
But, do these children understand that there are matters involved here that pertain to the Constitution that must considered along with and even above our need to solve a problem? Do they understand that the President may have another, greater, motive in regard to gun laws beyond his displayed concern for children? In short, do these children understand that this matter and the motives of those involved are not as simple as, “We don’t want children to be shot”?
Quite simply, these children, who are children in their understanding and comprehension were used as pawns in a matter that is above them and beyond their current capacity to understand. This however did not deter the President for he sees these children as emotional leverage to accomplish his goals for who is going to say anything harsh to the President while he is surrounded by children? This quite simply was cowardice on the part of the President but to his advantage and he has no qualms about violating truth and decency in his aim to systematically dismantle the America that our forefathers established and that you and I have been blessed to lived in.
Well ok, let’s take the President on his terms…he obviously believes that these children are mature enough to come into adult realms and issues and that they should play a role in making adult decisions. I would ask the President since he feels these children are capable of such adult understanding and decisions if he has treated them like adults by being honest with them about his views concerning all children’s lives?

For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.”
During the last election cycle as it has been many times before, God was claimed, summoned and represented by our political parties and politicians. It would appear as you listen to many politicians that God’s only concern is to feed the poor. That God cares for the poor is undeniable and we are grateful for a God who cares about those in need. But does nothing else matter to God? Is this all we can find to say about Him?
Delaware’s own Senator Chris Coon’s wrote an article about God and the political parties shortly after his party’s convention and the stir that was caused over the Democrats dropped reference to God in the party platform. (We would be unfair if we did not make note of the fact that Democrats graciously reinstated God in the party platform). In the article Coons says:
“What matters more than whether in the party’s platform the word “faith” was followed by the phrase “in God” was whether the values reflected in the platform showed an intention to honor God’s call to us for action that shows His preference for the poor, His demands that we care for each other as neighbors and work to heal the sick, feed the hungry and protect those in need.
The Democratic platform fully embraces those values, but they are hard to find in the Republican platform.
Psalm 72 teaches us that to defend the cause of the poor and to give deliverance to the needy is one of our highest callings — a call that is repeated throughout books of the Torah and the New Testament. To reject the great tradition of a circle of protection defies God’s will and undermines America’s values.”

How do I as a Christian and pastor view the results of our recent national election in which our nation chose a President that supports infant murder and sodomy over a moral Mormon? Well, I would be lying if I did not say that I am grieved that America chose Barack Obama as its President again. Our nation is determined to perish and is consciously choosing our ruin, even voting for it. May God have mercy on us.
Would I have been comforted if Mitt Romney had won? Only minimally. I am afraid that American Christians have traded gospel righteousness for mere human morality. The simple truth is that Mitt Romney’s morality does not flow from Christ’s righteousness for Romney’s gospel is another gospel which is not from God and is to be condemned:
Galatians 1:6-8 “I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. In 2009 I wrote comparing President Obama’s Thanksgiving Day Proclamation from that year with President Lincoln’s from 1863. Then and now, God’s people can only lament the heights we have fallen from as a nation in terms of our national reverence for God and it seems in 2012, that we have chosen only more Godlessness in our political leaders.
Today at our church Thanksgiving dinner we read President Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation from 1789. It struck me as you will read in a moment, that President Washington reveals that both Houses of Congress requested him to recommend to the people of America a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed to, “Almighty God”.

Perhaps I am a fool for touching this with a ten-foot pole but the recent controversy over Rush Limbaugh’s statements about a Georgetown law student (Sandra Fluke) calling her a “slut” has me thinking. I read this evening that Rush Limbaugh has issued an apology and given that Ms. Fluke did not actually discuss her sexual activity in her congressional statement it is probably best that he did. I want to set both of them aside in the ultimate sense but use them to provoke thought. My question is not whether or not Rush Limbaugh should have called Ms. Fluke a slut, but, can we call anyone a slut?
Let me also ask this, Did Mr. Limbaugh invent the word, “slut” and then apply it to Ms. Fluke? Did the word exist before the recent furor? The answer of course is “yes”, the word “slut” has long been in existence and can even be found in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary with this definition: “a promiscuous woman, especially: prostitute”.
So apparently in time past, a word was chosen to describe promiscuous women. Was the word invented never to be used? Was it never meant to be applied? So, we have the word “slut” but are there any sluts? To whom could we rightly apply the word? Anyone? The revelations that flow from this controversy keep coming but here is one, America doesn’t believe there is such a thing as a slut anymore. This isn’t just about Ms. Fluke, the powers that be: political, media and social have torn down every moral fence and we cannot even make judgments anymore. Now we are coming to the heart of the matter, America is increasingly becoming a place where you cannot judge the actions of others or at least “certain” others.
It is interesting the that the events concerning Rush Limbaugh and Ms. Fluke would take place during the same week that we learn that a Catholic priest is under attack for refusing a lesbian communion at a funeral. This priest apparently is evil and terrible for holding to the doctrines of his faith which includes making moral judgments based upon the Word of God. If you don’t get it, the real story here is the “powers that be” telling God He cannot call sodomy and lesbianism wrong but not to worry, God can fend for Himself.
Before weeks end, Kirk Cameron was a guest on the Piers Morgan show and was asked about sodomy. Cameron stood with Scripture’s position and as you can imagine, is being assaulted for doing so. I visited his Twitter page tonight and he is being condemned by many. The marvel is that each person that attacks Cameron for judging and condemning is judging and condemning him but apparently they are justified in doing so.
Do you see the dishonesty and hypocrisy of these people? Of those who condemn and judge Rush Limbaugh? They cry out that judging and condemning others is wrong but are doing the same thing themselves. So it is not really the case for them that judging is wrong, it is just that they want to be the judges while insisting that they cannot be judged themselves.
Meanwhile we are witnessing the systematic, increasing judgment of Americans who hold to Biblical truths and values. Both within the world of politics and religion people who love sexual immorality and infant murder have risen to prominence and power. These children of darkness will give themselves no rest until all that is evil is called good and what is good is called evil:
Isaiah 5:20 “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness…”
I have some news for you…the ultimate goal of these who oppose truth and what is good in God’s sight is not to silence Rush Limbaugh, they have bigger fish they are out to fry. The ultimate goal is the pulpits of America. While feigning tolerance and diversity these powers will judge the people of God and use their power in an attempt to silence our mouths about the sexual immorality that God hates and will judge. Mark it, very serious times are just around the corner for those who declare the truth of God. You well-meaning Christians who keep thinking that taxes, immigration and healthcare are where the battle is better wake up, it is our pulpits the government is after.
Just some various concluding thoughts…First, shame is nearly dead. There was a day when it was a woman’s virtue to be chaste and to publicly talk about her sexual behavior as so many women today are, would be unheard of. But we have become enlightened and have made a discovery that previous generations did not know. I am still waiting to hear what that discovery is.
Perhaps a compilation should be made of all the derogatory and judgmental things that have been said about Rush Limbaugh by politicians, educators and entertainers. I am sure the list would be long and the words hateful. I would like to recommend that the New York Times daily publish the transcript from Bill Maher’s show, “Real Time”. Let’s also include those things said in the inner rooms of Washington that God hears while Washington’s liars who have come forward in the Fluke matter pretend to be above such things.
“Slut”, is a strong, unpleasant word. So is “Sodomy” which of course is why its advocates have labored so hard to exchange it for “gay” and “homosexual”. “Infanticide” and “murder” are also strong words and as you know, have been replaced with “choice” and “rights”. Strong words against sin and moral evil must not be abandoned or forfeited. Our willingness to use them must never cease no matter how wrongly we are demonized, attacked and hated for it.
America is determined to be a place where no one can be called a “slut”, “sodomite” or “infant murderer” but, “homophobe” is fair game. God’s servants must speak truth and be willing to bear the scorn for it. God will speak to some hearts, show them their sin and they will be saved. The rest will rage, gnash their teeth and blaspheme until the day when they run into the rocks and caves and cry, “fall on us”:
Revelation 6:15-17 “Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
We will pay an increasing price for speaking but for those of us who know Christ we rest ourselves here:
“Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also. The body they may kill, God’s truth abideth still. His kingdom is forever.” (Martin Luther)

If you are like me, you look at the world everyday and are very concerned. Everyday more and more of our freedoms are taken away and the United States government is increasingly hostile toward Christians.
We are killing our offspring and government is encouraging us to do so. Sodomy is fully out of the closet and now in the military and those of us who insist that a man lying with a man is a sin against God are labeled as hateful and bigoted. It will not be long and pastors will be told that they cannot preach the Word of God in regard to the sins our government loves. Mark it, days of persecution are drawing near.
Why are these things happening? I’m sure you’ve wondered. Can I ask what answer you have arrived at? Your estimation of what is happening in the world is determined all-together by the lenses through which you look…

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” (Declaration of Independence)
Like it or not, atheists must acknowledge that the founding fathers of our country declared in our great Declaration of Independence that our self-evident right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness comes from the Creator.
How can government speak of these rights, uphold them and promote them without reference to the Creator? How can this be done without violating the so called separation of Church and State?
Further, seeing that this founding document declares that these rights come from the Creator do atheists forfeit a claim to these rights? If our fathers said they come from the Creator and atheists deny the existence of the Creator can they claim the rights attributed to His existence? Does their personal choice to deny God’s existence carry more weight than the corporate declaration of the founders that there is a Creator and our rights come from Him?
To show the extent of the folly we live under, how can public schools rightly teach our children about our unalienable rights? Would they not have to make reference to the Creator? Wouldn’t this require a discussion in our schools that includes God? What if a student asks who the Creator is?
Lastly, isn’t it interesting that amongst the signers of the Declaration of Independence was a pastor, John Witherspoon? Have you ever been to the Capitol? Can you walk through that building and leave believing that our forefathers intended that God not be recognized in public and political life?
Today’s atheists and advocates of separation of Church and State are revisionists of history, they have had to lie about and distort history to accomplish what they have in our day. But try as they may, there is the Creator in the Declaration and our three-fold American rights are inexorably linked to Him.
Atheists love to be logical so let’s be logical. Our fathers have declared that our rights are from the Creator, no Creator, no rights. Let the teeth gnashing begin.

Acts 5:29 “But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.”
As of New Year’s Day 2012, same sex civil unions with the permission of the State of Delaware become possible. We are quite aware of the rejoicing that will take place as many declare that the state has given them this long awaited legal privilege. Governor Markell has spoken, speaking of the law he said…
“…it serves the greater good to speak out and oppose bias, prejudice or outdated laws that ‘lessen any one of us.’”
It appears that being judgmental isn’t wrong for some people. Apparently it isn’t wrong to call people who hold the Bible as the Word of God, “biased”, “prejudiced” and “outdated”. Sorry, a slight digression, back to the matter.
The State of Delaware has granted permission for people of the same sex to join together in union and has made a moral declaration that this union ‘serves the greater good”. But we have a dilemma, God has said otherwise. God has not permitted such unions but forbidden them, He has not called them good but sinful:
